How to import runes automatically in LoL

How import works

The League of Legends client has a local API, the LCU API, which Riot makes available to third-party tools. Through it, an app can create rune pages, pick summoner spells and add item sets to the shop, just as you would by hand.

Coach LoL IA connects by reading the client’s lockfile (local port and password). It never asks for your Riot account or password.

Step by step

1. Download Coach LoL IA and install it on Windows 10 or 11.
2. Open the app and the LoL client, in any order. The app detects the client on its own.
3. Enter champion select. The app recognizes your champion and the role the client assigns you.
4. Check the build: runes (you can choose between several pages), summoner spells, items and skill order.
5. Press “Import”. If you would rather not touch anything, turn on automatic import in Settings.

Your rune pages are safe

The app creates its own pages with the “Coach:” prefix, for example “Coach: Ahri Mid”, and replaces its own page if it already exists. If you have no free page left, it only replaces one of yours when you click “Import” and confirm it (never a preset); automatic import never deletes anything.

If something goes wrong

• “Waiting for the League of Legends client…”: open the client; the app tries again every 3 seconds.
• “Build not available”: there are fewer than 10 games for that champion in that role. Try another role or wait for the next update.
• The page is not created: check that you have a free page or a “Coach:” page that can be replaced.
• If it still fails, ask the AI assistant or write to us at support@coachlolia.com.

Doing it by hand is fine too

If you would rather not install anything, you can copy the build into the client by hand: create a rune page, pick your summoner spells and buy following the item order. Import just saves you that time in champion select.
